KUT 1938 SG135c Mint 10c black & green variety Frame double, one albino

Stock Code: P223000683

1938-54 10c black & green, perf 13x11¾, showing variety "FRAME DOUBLE, ONE ALBINO", lower left corner block of four, being R9-10/1-2 from the one sheet discovered (frame plate 9, vignette plate 7B- June 1949 printing), very fine unmounted o.g. The albino impression is 6½-7½mm below the inked frame, virtually in line but very slightly slanted, with the distance increasing from left to right. On all stamps, the albino "UGANDA" from the top frame is apparent above the mountain peaks, but in this pair the most striking evidence appears in the lower margin, where the complete "KENYA TANGANYIKA" (from the bottom frame) is clearly visible to the naked eye, particularly desirable as only the ten stamps from the bottom row display the variety with such exceptional clarity. [N.B. Although the existence of the variety was noted in the Murray Payne Commonwealth catalogue as long ago as 1997, it only achieved Part 1 listing in 2019.]
