Revenue stamps collect the fees or taxes due on official documents, hunting or firearms licences, tobacco and alcohol, medicines, playing cards and many other items. They are similar to postage stamps, and many stamps are dual-purpose. Although they fell out of favour with stamp collectors for a long time after the First World War, Revenue stamps are now a popular area of philately again and you can find some very unique, rare and valuable issues. It's such a vast area there is something for every collector to find.
