No Longer Available - CEYLON 1869 SGO1/3, O5 Official

Stock Code: P212012557

Official. 1869 2d yellow, 6d deep brown and 8d chocolate, in BLOCKS OF TEN (5x2), and 2s deep blue in BLOCK OF EIGHT (4x2), type O1 "SERVICE" opt, fresh colours, large part o.g. Prepared for use, but never issued. Odd imperfections of little significance (2d and 6d with some trimmed perfs, 6d x2 with surface scuffs), as for each value these are the largest recorded multiples, with only one other block of ten (of the 8d value - Hackmey ex Adml Harris, realised $2400+ in 2009) known to us. A wonderful and unrepeatable group, from the collection of Sir Ernest de Silva. [Even blocks of four are very rare (unknown for the missing 1s value), with none in the Royal Collection or Baron de Worms, and none seen by us in the past 40 years.]
