ZANZIBAR 1934 SGD8/a, 10/a Cover

Stock Code: P178000077

Postage Due. 1934 (16 NO) locally addressed "Mrs Trueman" cover, with 1926-30 15c and 18c black/orange matching lower left corner vertical pairs (R4-5/1) showing the "cent.s" errors on upper stamps, each neatly tied by single strike of type KD13 cds (sadly leaving the errors uncancelled !). Entirely philatelic and "by favour", but very fine and attractive, and of special interest as Mrs Enid Trueman (wife of L. H. Freeman, on the staff of the Eastern Telegraph Company at Zanzibar) was an important early collector of the Zanzibar dues, writing articles for GSM in 1934. [SG was privileged to handle her collection in 1997, when it resurfaced after 60 odd years in obscurity.]. Ex Griffith-Jones, illustrated (Fig. 12.10) and discussed on pp. 332-3 of his book, and listed as Census F.231.
