1895-96 5r ultramarine and violet, type 1 opt, ERROR "Inverted r" (in conjunction with "Daun's capital Z" and thick sans-serif first "a" as always), fresh part o.g. Considered to be from the small second high value setting of 12 (ERD 10 Jan 1896), R2/3. Small imperfections (vertical gum crease and minor thin), still fine appearance and very rare, being one of just nine recorded unused examples. Ex Griffith-Jones, with BPA certs x2 (1995 and 2018, the former clear). (cat £4750).
