1908 (9 Jan) 1d imperforate colour trials, set of 13 different (!), prepared in connexion with the 3d value added to the set in 1908, comprising two on green paper with wmk CA sideways, eight on paper with wmk MCA upright (three on white, two on red, three on yellow paper, inclg purple/yellow as adopted) and three on blue paper with wmk MCA sideways. Odd minor creases or waterstains, in no way detracting from the beauty of this very rare and remarkable series. Ex Ludington (Spink Nov 1999, lot 1758 - realised £6325 + V.A.T.).
