TRANSVAAL 1900 Essay Bromide £10 High value Postage/Revenue essay

Stock Code: P212005113

1900 (Nov 28) 'POSTAGE & REVENUE' photographic essay denominated £10, SHOWING manuscript 'D' and date at top and 'Head: black/ Border: red' endorsement at foot, produced for a proposed issue which was abandoned as the Queen died just two months later. No stamps of Transvaal were ever produced with Victoria's portrait, a great shame as had this design been issued it would undoubtedly have remained one of the showpiece high values of her reign. Spectacular and Unique. Ex De La Rue archives.
