Official. 1930-47 "Set 11" (= 1935 issue) 6d "dull blue-green and orange-buff", SUIDAFRIKA one word, wmk UPRIGHT, SG type O2 opt with 12.5mm space, five horizontal pairs showing prominent listed opt varieties, namely V4 (R2/4, "Broken FI of OFFICIAL"), V5 (R4/9, "Broken S of OFFISIEEL"), V6 (R6/10, "Broken second F of OFFISIEEL"), V7 (R17/4, "Broken first E of OFFISIEEL") and V8 (R18/3, "Broken IC of OFFICIAL"), fresh o.g. V4 with a short perf, otherwise very fine, and a most remarkable group, which would be virtually impossible to replicate, even normal pairs of the Set 11 6d (the only unhyphenated roto 6d with UPRIGHT wmk) being scarce, while each of these proving varieties (unique to Set 11) occurs only once per sheet. Not only are the varieties particularly obvious against the pale frame colour of the stamps, but to add to the interest each pair has been matched with Set 11 1d "Slate-grey and carmine-lake" pairs (hyphenated with wmk inverted - UHB O47 = SG O21) showing the identical flaws. Fascinating for study and display. Ex Matheson. [Union Handbook O49 V4-8]
