Stock Code: P189015047

Official. 1930-47 "Set 9" (= 1934 issue) 1d "grey-black and bright rose" roto, Type II, SUIDAFRIKA one word, SG type O2 opt (12½ - 13½mm space), block of 12 (4x3) with OPT MISPLACED TO RIGHT (so that "OFFICIAL" falls on the perfs), being R14-16/7-10 from the one (half-) sheet discovered, o.g. (hinge trace on R16/7, otherwise unmounted). Fractionally yellowish gum and some endemic gum stain spots (mainly confined to right half), still fine and very striking appearance. A rare multiple, with the misplacement slightly diagonal and therefore only significant and noticeable in the lower half of the sheet (number 5144, from the first print run) whereas the upper half was effectively normal. Ex Matheson. [Union Handbook O39, this variety not yet recorded in 1986]
