No Longer Available - SCORING & TALLY CARDS

Stock Code: R2862-08

in the first half of the 20th century stationers were advertising scoring cards for whist drives and bridge parties. Players could choose scorepads or boxes containing a dozen brightly coloured small folded cards that were known as Tally cards in America. Leading artists submitted artwork for manufacturers often basing their ideas on variations of patterns that used spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds in attractive clever designs. Advertisers were quick to see the potential and produced score cards that advertised drink and cigarettes as well as newspapers and public utilities. This book tells the history of the Tally card and catalogues many of them.
