1860 ½d, the photo-litho forgery by Sperati, in the form of a "die proof" in black on thin surfaced card (50x62mm), with violet 'REPRODUCTION INTERDITE' H/S above and pencil signature of the master forger below. Rare and desirable, being one of only four such examples recorded by Smith. Ex R.C.B. Smith (no. 120200, illustrated on pl.31 of his book; Spink 9/12/2009, lot 262 part).
