INDIA 1892 SG103, 105 Specimen

Stock Code: P201004828

1892 (-97) 2a6p yellow-green and 1r green and rose, each with seriffed "SPECIMEN" handstamp (Samuel type 14), as used for Inland Revenue record examples, brilliant large part o.g. with lovely fresh colours, the 1r in the confirmed shade of the first printing. The 1r with slightly trimmed perfs at foot (and minor gum bend), still a very fine and rare pair, with no other "SPECIMEN" opt known on this 1r. [These two stamps were preserved with eight values from the 1882-90 set, also type 14, and a 2a with rare type 19 opt, all in similar condition. It is noteworthy that the 1882-90 1r slate (which the 1r green and rose replaced) is not recorded with type 14 opt,]
