INDIA 1870 SGT6 (var) Revenue Court Fee opt on 4a light blue Telegraphs

Stock Code: P212011509

Court Fee: 1870-72 Telegraphs 4a light blue (first wmk), overprinted 'COURT FEES.' in red, BLOCK OF FOUR with two punch cancellations in each stamp as usual. Short perfs at left and foot, still an attractive and rare multiple of this elusive provisional revenue. [N.B. India Court Fees were introduced in 1870 without dedicated revenue stamps available. A wide range of stamps were thus overprinted locally in Bombay and Calcutta on an 'ad hoc' basis until the arrival of the dedicated 'Court Fee' issue of 1872]
