1950 (30 Jan) registered usage of India 2a red P/S envelope from Hyderabad to Bombay, uprated by India 1940-43 3p slate x2 , ½a purple x5 and 1949-52 6p purple-brown x2 and 1a turquoise, in combination with Hyderabad 1947-49 6a sepia (scarce on cover) and 1948 6p claret. Total postage paid 7a India + 6a6p Hyderabad. Opened for display. A spectacular franking of a type which would become obsolete in April 1950 but had remained obligatory in the wake of Operation Polo (Sept 13-18 1948). Despite the loss of Hyderabad's independence, the two postal systems continued to function separately.
