Stock Code: P190012144

Postage Due. 1937 (17 FE) incoming airmail cover from Kenya, flown on the regular Nairobi-Lagos service (18-26 Feb), underfranked by KUT 1935-37 50c bright purple and black (the correct rate being 60c), tied by very fine 'THIKA / KENYA' despatch cds (Proud type D5), with M/S 'T25' and '2½d' tax marks. Transit backstamps of 'KHARTOUM' (20 FE) and 'ACCRA' (28 FEB). The deficiency paid on arrival by 1923 2d black postage due stamp and 1928 ½d blue-green postage stamp, tied by individual indistinct strikes of 'ACCRA GOLD COAST' registered oval, dated '2 MAR 37' (type R8). A fine and interesting commercial usage, clearly demonstrating that the Accra post office had run out of ½d postage due stamps by 1937.
