GB c.1792 King George III Weymouth to London Time-Bill

Stock Code: P212021701

c.1792 'General Poft-Office…Weymouth to London Time-Bill' Superb example for King George III's special (summer season only) Mailcoach, which only ran for a few weeks in most of the years from 1789 to 1805, while the King was convalescing at his brother's house in Weymouth. It has the names of Joint P.M.G.’s 'Walsingham' and 'Chichester' at the top who only served together from 1790 to 1794 (George III did not holiday in Weymouth in 1793), so this Time-Bill must date from that time period. It has the times added in manuscript for each stop from Weymouth via Blanford, Andover, Bagshot, Windsor, Horse Guards and the General Post Office, London. The only other example recorded is in the Bruce Castle Museum; there was no example in Lord Walsingham’s bound set (which was sold ex Martin Willcocks in 1999). [The B.C.M. copy has a note that 'This coach is only for the Season His Majesty is at Weymouth'.] Very rare indeed.
