GB 1906 Revenue Winchester Court 'Lunacy Act' Document declaring a 'person of unsound mind'

Stock Code: P223000462

Winchester Local Authority: 1906 (Oct 13), complete 'Order for the Reception of a Private Patient' interned under the 'Lunacy Act 1890', the form relating to a Walter John Kaines, a 'Person of Unsound mind', received at the Fisherton House mental asylum, Salisbury, (which later became Old Manor Hospital until its closure in 2003), the legal fees paid by Winchester Justices Court 2s dull pink, tied by ms signature, with corner crease, though exceptionally showing the original orange-pink colour (these stamps almost always found badly faded). A wonderful piece of social history, the form offering an option to have a person medically declared as an 'idiot' and showing exceptionally rare (and late!) usage of the Winchester Court stamps on original document. Fascinating and Supeb. Booth 4
