1865-67 Transatlantic Mail. Very fine group of three unpaid covers sent from England via Liverpool to United States via New York. Carried per Cunard steamers each bearing a "19 CENTS" handstamp for the British share of the postage and each bearing black "N. York (24) BRITISH PACKET/ OR U.S. (33x2) & (34) NOTES" depreciated currency markings indicating payment of 33 & 34 cents (respectively) in notes due from the recipient equalling 24 cents in gold due to the depreciation in american currency caused by inflation because of the civil war.
