1857 1d Rose-red Pl.47. Very fine printed entire originally sent from London to Vice Admiral Norwich Duff at Drummuir bearing a 1d rose-red Pl.47. (SG 40) lettered CE, neatly tied by a crisp London City "1" numeral with a green "BOTRIPHNIE" Scots local cancellation (Type VIII) below. Redirected upon arrival to Braemorriston, Elgin and endorsed in manuscript "1d" indicating postage due upon arrival, "C.R." Caledonian Railway handstamp alongside. Backstamped by a London dispatch cds for JY.29.1857, Keith transit cds's for JY.30-31.1857, and Elgin arrival cds' for JY.31.1857. Rare Scots local cancellation unrecorded cancelling an adhesive. Ex. "Claymore".
