1855 4d Carmine on highly glazed, deeply blued paper (Wmk. Small Garter). A stunning unused o.g. left hand wing margin block of six. Lower portion of bottom left hand stamp roughly torn away and a couple short perforations at foot nevertheless a stunning exhibition showpiece, believed to be the largest surviving multiple in private hands and the adjoining block of six to the Dr Latto block of four that was originally sold as a rejoined block of ten in 1976. One of the great rarities of the Surface Printed era. Ex. "Verus".
