1841 1d Red brown Pl.48. Very fine used good to large four margin example lettered EB showing "E" & "T" flaws, neatly tied to a beautiful triangular envelope by a Southwell "542" numeral. Addressed to Hyde Park, London. Backflaps showing a wonderful red lining, bearing an attractive bright green "ANSWER ME" wafer seal and backstamped by a Southwell dispatch cds for SP.1845. and a London arrival cds for SP.15.1845. An extremely pretty and unusual triangular envelope very rare in comparison to the usual folded entires seen in this shape.
