1839 Treasury Competition Essay. Small 15mm x 15mm essay printed in yellow green depicting a gods head in the Greek style, affixed by red sealing wax on an irregular piece of paper from the original submission form. The essay is tied to the piece by a black intaglio postmark for "EXETER/JAN/1/1840". Ex The Royal Philatelic Collection where the remainder of the submission resides indicating the original entry number was "22983/39" from a Mr. C. Featherstone.
