1823 Maritime mail. Very fine Wrapper from Calcutta to London, landed on the Isle of Wight with a Calcutta datestamp for MY.6.1823 and a boxed 'INDIA LETTER/ISLE OF WIGHT' handstamp (Robertson IN 1). Upon arrival in London the letter was re-redirected to Freemantle near Southampton and bears a London inspectors star cancelling the India Letter mark and approving the alteration of the rate from 1/1 to 9d. Unusual.
