1876 (FE 15) cover to "Henry Langridge Esqre, 16 Great St Helens, Bishopsgate Street, London", endorsed "Private", with very fine "Black Frank" handstamp at upper right and equally fine type F1 despatch cds at lower left, and red m/s "6" rating to indicate postage paid. Red "LONDON E.C." arrival backstamp, dated "31 MR 76". Carried by the "Black Hawk" to Montevideo, and thence by RMSP "Mondego" to Southampton. Slight cover faults (light vertical fold, small tear from opening), but a very neat cover with unusually crisp strikes of the handstamp and despatch cds. Only 46 "Black Frank" covers recorded, this being No 4/76 in the Barnes listing. (cat £17000)
