No Longer Available - BRITISH GUIANA 1860 SG14 Cover

Stock Code: P212021870

1860 (JA 6) small neat cover from Demerara to "Miss Margaret Alves, New Amsterdam", franked at 4c rate by 1857-59 1c dull red (Type "B") HORIZONTAL STRIP OF FOUR, very fine with mostly large margins (except barely shaved at right) and lovely fresh delicate colour, beautifully tied by four crisp strikes of despatch cds. On reverse, further strike of despatch cds, and BERBICE arrival cds. The cover with odd trivial marks, mentioned for strict accuracy, and an unimportant fold at far left, in no way detracting from its wonderful appearance. A famous cover of exceptional quality and great rarity, much the finest of just four recorded with the 1857-59 1c value (any type/shade), and bearing the equal largest known multiple of this stamp. Ex Webster (Harmer Rooke NY, 19/2/1943, lot 43), Dale-Lichtenstein (Harmer NY, 17/2/1969, lot 429 - realised $2200) and Dupont (Feldman 27/6/2014, lot 60059 - realised EUR 38,000+), with BPA cert (2014).
