Carys Llewelyn is the 2017 Young Collector of the Year

June 05, 2017 by Stanley Gibbons

A collector from South Wales has been awarded the Anne Dummer award for 2017. Carys Llewelyn joined the stamp club at Neyland Junior School when she was 9 years old. Her enthusiasm was soon evident, not only in her own collecting and competition work, but also in her encouragement of other club members and in helping with the running of the club. The Anne Dummer Award is promoted by the Stamp Active Network and recognises a young person, not only as a collector, but as someone who has made a wider contribution to philately in general.

Following her own success in competitive philately, she also encouraged her sister and two cousins who were soon competing against her. For the last 18 months she has been the Raflet Stamp Club Junior Reporter, providing articles four times a year for their magazine on varied topics of interest to young collectors. Carys is now a member of her secondary school stamp club, her church stamp club, and has also addressed her local philatelic society on her Winter Sports competitive entry.

We congratulate Carys on receiving this award and wish her a long and rewarding philatelic career.
