To mark its 80th anniversary, Basingstoke and District Philatelic Society has produced a special presentation pack containing an unmounted mint set of the Great Britain 1935 Silver Jubilee issue in a limited edition of 300.
This set has been chosen as, along with the various Commonwealth issues, it is believed to be the catalyst that led to the formation of the Society in 1935. The pack is in the Royal Mail format with its folded card outlining details of the Society as well as giving a brief history of the ancient market town of Basingstoke. The banner on the pack gives a view of the Basingstoke skyline taken from a hill to the south of the town. The pack was available, priced £10, at the Society’s annual stamp fair which took place on Saturday 21 November at Costello School, Crossborough Hill, Basingstoke, Hants RG21 4AL. The pack is also available at £11.50, including UK postage, from the Society Secretary, c/o County Philatelic Auctions, Oakley Lane, Oakley, Basingstoke RG23 7JZ. Email: email@example.com.
