Our contribution to philately is unprecedented.

SG Old Motor Bike and side car

Even our address at 399 The Strand is steeped in history.

Rubbing shoulders with other heritage brands and a stone’s throw from the Savoy Hotel, we have been a destination on this quintessentially British street since 1891.

Based opposite the Savoy on the Strand, the traditional home of stamp collecting, the Stanley Gibbons shop serves pre-eminent collectors, philatelists and numismatists. In the same building, our philatelic auction department hosts up to 10 auctions each year, where the strength of our brand and superb location combine to achieve the very best results for our consignors.

The world’s longest established rare stamp merchant.

Stanley Gibbons began as a stamp counter within a family business in Plymouth in 1856. Today it offers the broadest retail philatelic stock available anywhere in the world, with over a million stamps available to browse and purchase, at its West End emporium.

At the heart of it all are some of the most gifted and knowledgeable philatelists, working to establish some of the world's most coveted stamp portfolios. These world-leading experts travel all across the globe in search of authentic, high-quality material of extreme rarity and value.

This adherence to quality is what gained Stanley Gibbons the Royal Warrant in 1914, an honour we have held for over 100 years. It allows us to offer a lifetime guarantee on all our rare items and we remain the only philatelist to offer this assurance.
