2017 Commonwealth & British Empire Stamp Catalogue 1840-1970
The standard work of reference for collectors of Commonwealth stamps all over the world.

As usual, there have been a number of additions and improvements to the new edition. The listing of official government telegraph stamps, begun in the 2013 edition, is now completed, with the Telephone Service stamps of Patiala and the Telegraphs of Jammu and Kashmir. There are new priced listings of Indian stamps used in Guadur and the ‘CSAR’ and ‘SAR’ perfins of Orange River Colony and Transvaal are now fully documented. In Great Britain, the inverted, reversed and inverted and reversed watermarks are listed for the first time in this catalogue.

Throughout the book there are new and improved illustrations, helpful new notes on subjects as diverse as the early lithographs of British Guiana and the 1962 Emancipation overprints of Tonga. There are several new watermark varieties, newly listed plate flaws and ‘used abroads’ and many stamps, previously listed without a price, are now given a valuation.

Prices have once again been very carefully reviewed and there are increases (and a few decreases) throughout the catalogue. India and States are up again, as are Australia, Canada and New Zealand, and the continued demand for errors and varieties in all areas and periods has resulted in some notable further rises.

It remains an inescapable fact that, buying or selling, it is vitally important to have the very latest ‘Part 1’ to refer to.

• The authoritative reference source for GB and Commonwealth information – all stamps from 1840-1970 listed and priced.
• To help readers avoid buying forgeries or fakes, or stamps with forged postmarks, there is helpful information on identification.
• Strengthened, case bound binding for extra durability.
• Unique listing by SG number.
• Full colour illustrations.
• Invaluable six-page article on stamp condition.
• Prices have been carefully and extensively revised throughout the catalogue and there are increases, some of them quite significant, throughout all periods and territories. India and States, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Canada all see widespread price rises, while errors and many plate flaws and watermark varieties also show marked increases.

• Whether you are an active buyer of Commonwealth stamps, a dealer or an investor, it is vital to be right up to date with this very active market – and there is no more up-to-date reference than the 2017 ‘Part 1’.
