Stock Code: P12306028

1902 (c.) DLR Minerva head imperforate printer's samples, with 'AFRICA/2½d' duty plate, set of eight matching blocks of 12 (6x2) being the top two rows of panes of 60 with full margins showing jubilee lines, centre-guide and M/S reference numbers at upper left, imperforate on unwatermarked wove, in four different colour combinations (dull green and brown-orange, dull and bright purple, dull green and violet, and dull green and carmine), each on both uncoated ordinary and chalk-surfaced paper, fresh unmounted o.g. (odd minor gum wrinkles, and the green and carmine chalky block with gum crease affecting one pair and trivial adhesions). These were produced early in the 20th century, when chalk-surfaced paper was introduced for the KEVII stamps of Transvaal and the Natal £1.10. Rare and spectacular in this form.
