1916 (7 May) 6d black on thin wove, typewritten (TOP COPY), from plate 2 pos. 15, showing the unusual variety 'question mark at upper right', fine unused (insignificant wrinkles). Very rare as a top copy, with only ten unused examples (five singles, a block of 3 and the se-tenant 6d + 2d error pair) recorded from an original 48 (two sheets), and the variety on this stamp unique. Ex 'Mountrobeck' (CRL 1/6/94, lot 136). [From the black 'carbon' production of 144 stamps (six sheets), 66 unused and 5 used have been recorded. The normal 'SG 35' listing is for such carbon copies].
