Waterloo 1815 (Francis Mayon, 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards) fitted with steel clip and ring suspension, good very fine.Francis Mayon was born in Somerset Walcot near Bath, he enlisted into the 1st Foot guard on the 4th May 1809, aged 20 years his former occupation listed as a stone mason. At Quatre Bras on June 16th the light companies of the regiment were heavily involved in fighting in Bossu wood, as part of lieutenant Colonel Stables company private Mayon was wounded at Quatre Bras. During the three days of fighting from the 16-18 June the 3rd battalion suffered 604 casualties from 1021 men present.
