The stamp with odd short or faintly toned perfs mentioned for accuracy, but very fresh and remarkably deep colour. An attractive and very fine cover, much rarer than those with SG 1 or 2. Both the type of cancel, and the presence of faint vertical 'laid lines' in the paper prove that this example actually comes from the April 1880 printing (supply 22), traditionally identified as SG 12 ('bright orange - yellow'), but we believe that that printing showed considerable shade variation.
