1924-33 set of 12 to 3s, opt 'SPECIMEN' in intact horizontal strips of 3 as sent out from Bern, the original eleven values affixed to ledger piece (273x205mm) from the Madagascar archive and tied by part to complete strikes of the red circular 'POSTES ET TELEGRAPHES/ COLLECTION DE BERNE/MADAGASCAR' receiving H/S and official endorsements and signature at lower right, and additionally the later 5d on separate small piece, similarly tied. Remarkably the right stamp in 6d to 3s strips all show the 'Torn flag' variety (R4/6), the remaining values matching from R1/4-6 with 1½d showing 'Line through C' on R1/6 (and all except 3d showing 'Comet flaw' on R1/4) . A unique and spectacular showpiece.
