1864-77 1d carmine-red, type 4, wmk CC, block of 18 (6x3) with wing margin at right, being three complete rows from a left pane, fresh o.g. in quite a deep shade (seven stamps unmounted). Folded perfs causing minor separation, and some light creasing or gum wrinkles, affecting three stamps in top row and the bottom row, but a rare and impressive multiple. (cat £1980+).

1864-77 6d bright violet, type 4, wmk CC, fresh large part o.g. Off-centre as often and one shortish perfs but fine for this issue. Scarce. (cat £190).

1871-76 1d carmine-red, type 6, wmk CC, block of 9 with wing margin at left, o.g. (four stamps unmounted). Suspicion of toning on a couple of perfs, still a most attractive and very scarce multiple.

1882-83 5s orange, wmk CA, large part o.g. Slight gum disturbance from hingeing, but fine appearance with very fresh colour. Much above average for this rare stamp. (cat £850)

1882-83 5s orange, wmk CA, the dangerous photo-litho forgery by Sperati (on genuine paper and perfs), 'used' with forged 'PORT ELIZABETH' squared circle, dated 'JY 28 83'. Typical peripheral soiling/staining but fine appearance and very scarce. [With German guarantee marks on reverse, which attest to the deceptive character of this item].

1882 ½d on 3d (deep) claret, wmk CA, type 12 surcharge, variety 'Hyphen omitted', fresh unused. Insignificant natural printing flaw (below 'P' of 'CAPE'), otherwise fine and rare. (cat £850).

1882 ½d on 3d wmk CA, type 12 surcharge, three used examples exhibiting a range of shades from pale to deep claret, and each with an interesting variety. The first with surcharge misplaced upwards (leaving the original value clear) and showing a prominent printing flaw in the value tablet (between 'POSTAGE' and 'THREE'), the second (from left column with imcomplete bar) showing badly broken 'l' in 'Half', the third with surcharge misplaced downwards, so that the bar falls on both the top and bottom perfs. Small faults (first with a slight thin, last with perf defects) but a good group.

1893-98 5s brown-orange, wmk 13, block of 4, very fine unmounted o.g. A most attractive multiple, very scarce in this quality.
