Ups & Downs
As a lifelong Scottish rugby supporter, you get used to ups and downs (ok, mostly downs).
Perhaps that's why the job of Investment Director for Stanley Gibbons so appeals.
At least I can mitigate the rollercoaster of my private life (good job they don't play that often) with stability in my professional one.
Not that the job is 'stable' as such; we're busier than ever and the demand for our products keeps growing - but at least the underlying asset classes in our investments remain strong, healthy and stable and there are no signs that this will change.
That's why we launched the Collectibles Growth Plan (CGP).
We believe it provides the best Stanley Gibbons investment option on offer to you for years. Why? - because it combines the security of investing in a suite of stable, tangible assets (historically unaffected by other market volatility), with a compelling low cost structure so you get better returns.
To illustrate the point about better returns, here's a slide from a presentation our CEO Mike Hall and I made to a Hedge Fund just a couple of weeks ago:
In essence: The CGP has a highly advantageous fee structure.
Unlike many other investments, there are absolutely no charges, hidden or otherwise. There are no transaction, management, valuation, insurance, storage or annual fees.
So how do we make our money?
Based on our buying power and expertise, we make a modest margin when we first buy the items, (which goes largely to cover our processing and handling costs) and then we simply charge a performance-related commission on profit at the end of your term.
With the CGP this is 20% of any profit made so you retain 80% of any profit on top of your original investment. Therefore, we only profit if you do.
This simple and transparent structure is the key to a healthy return.
The other great point about the CGP is that it is underpinned by some of the best performing alternative asset classes in history.
These have shown an almost unparalleled track record of success and have done for decades, if not centuries. All you need to do is look at our rare stamp indices like the GB30 (and soon to be published GB250) or review the auction realisations for rare coins (rare coin catalogues are outdated but even these published volumes show excellent growth).

To summarise then, the CGP is probably for you if you're looking to:
In today's climate, isn't an investment option that offers you balance, stability and growth from a company you can trust not worth a look?
