1840 1d Black Pl.7. A spectacular large four margin unused o.g. right hand marginal block of twelve (3 x 4) on experimental thin paper (Manuscript "24lb" in margin indicating the weight per ream) with full deckle edge margin and sheet inscription "In Wetting the Back be careful not to remove the Cement". Extracted from the famous mint block of twenty-eight from the Seymour collection (Lot 247) which was sold in 1951. This being the finest and most impressive portion of that remarkable multiple with a deep rich colour and crisp fine impressions, some minor and typical creasing at the right hand side but overall extremely fine making this one of the classic multiples of world philately and a stunning exhibition piece. 1981 BPA Cert.
