Arrival backstamp of 'AP 12 65'. Slight cover creasing and imperfections, but an attractive and unusual franking for the 10d rate.

1861-64 wmk star, group of three stamps, each only partly perforated, comprising 5d chestnut with clean cut perfs at sides but wide imperforate margins top and bottom (showing portions of adjoining stamps) and rough perf 1d x 2, respectively imperf at top and bottom, and perf at top only, lightly used with barred cancels. The first 1d a little thinned, but all of fine to very fine appearance. A remarkable trio, necessarily offered 'as is', but very plausible. Similar errors (in pairs) have been recorded on the 2d and 10d values of this series (SG 20a, 34a).

Separated by scissors (but with perfs still intact except on upper left stamp) but a very rare and remarkable multiple. The re-entry involves considerable traces of another impression of the die 1½mm above the full impression, most apparent in the words 'EIGHT PENCE', the Queen's profile and diadem and the top frame, which impinges on the stamp above.

Official. 1869 'SERVICE' set to 2s, prepared for use but not issued, a remarkable group of nine stamps with type D5 'SPECIMEN' H/S comprising 6d, 1s and 2s with horizontal opt in black (applied below 'SERVICE'), and six values (exclg 6d) with VERTICAL OPT IN BLUE (at left). The first trio without gum, the others fresh part o.g. Magnificent and surely unique, with no instance of the D5 opt recorded on this set by Samuel.
