1869 Overseas mail. Very fine wrapper bearing a 1d rose-red Pl.106 and a 3d Rose Pl.5 each tied by a crisp London City "106" duplex for AP.20.1869. showing a and a boxed "L1" handstamp for late payment at lower left. Addressed to Amsterdam and backstamped accordingly for AP.21.1869.
1867 10d Deep red-brown Pl.2. Very fine used example of this rare "abnormal" printing lettered PJ, neatly tied to a small piece in combination with a 2d blue Pl.9 by London Chief Office number "1" numerals, the piece backstamped with a Sydney N.S.W. arrival cds for JA.15.1868. A magnificent example with exceptionally fine colour, so difficult to find without faults and with the plate number clearly visible, without doubt one of the finest surviving examples. 2013 PTS Cert.
1857 4d Rose carmine. Very fine used example neatly cancelled by a Salisbury "683/E" punching obliterator, the four dots in the centre were made by perforating pins however these pins needed constant attention to keep them sharp and more often than not did not achieve their desired affect of punching a hole through the adhesive. A scarce & attractive trial cancellation.
1856 1s Green (Wmk Inverted). Very fine used example of this scarce watermark variety cancelled by two strikes of the Liverpool "3 cents" accountancy mark normally associated with transatlantic mail. Most unusual and a very rare combination.
1856 1s Green (Wmk. Reversed). Very fine used example neatly cancelled by a crisp Liverpool "466" numeral. Centred slightly low as is usual and well above the quality normally associated with this very scarce watermark variety. Cat. £1300.
1862 6d Lilac Pl.3. Very fine unmounted o.g. bottom marginal left hand wing margin block of four lettered SE-TF, with TF showing the "Three roses & a Thistle" error of watermark (Type W20b). A spectacular multiple beairng this very rare watermark variety. A magnificent exhibition piece. Accompanied by a copy of a 1988 RPS Certificate of a block of eight from which this block was taken. Spec. J71(2)f.
1862 9d Straw Pl.2. (Thick paper). Fine unused large part o.g. example on thick paper lettered OK, small ink mark at foot nevertheless a very presentable example of this very rare issue. 1976 RPS Cert. Cat. £5000.
1865 9d Straw Pl.4 (Wmk. Emblems on thick paper). Very fine used example of this very difficult variety lettered IC neatly cancelled by a lightly struck Bradford "107" numeral. Very scarce so fine. 1988 RPS Cert.
1865 9d Straw plate proof Pl.4. Very fine and fresh unused imperforate strip of three lettered OI-OK, printed on unwatermarked paper. Small thin on OJ, nevertheless a magnificent multiple of the highest rarity. Ex. Latto. 1996 BPA Cert.
1869 6d Mauve Pl.9. Very fine and fresh unused o.g. top marginal example lettered AF, showing a double strike of the horizontal perforations at top. An attractive and unusual item, with lovely fresh colour.
1867 9d Straw Pl.4. Very fine used right hand wing margin vertical pair lettered CD-DD, neatly cancelled contrary to regulations by a single Galway cds leaving a clear profile on both stamps. Most attractive.
