1860 (Aug) 6d deep green, clean-cut perf 14-16½, a large example with portion of adjoining stamp at left, brilliant o.g. Exceptional colour and perfs. (cat £275).
1863-80 (1d) rose, wmk CC, imperforate imprimatur with three large margins but just touched at right, handstamped 'SPECIMEN' (type D5), large part o.g. with brilliant colour. Rare.
1869 5s maroon, perf 12½, with local 'SPECIMEN' handstamp (type TRI 1), large part o.g. Some imperfections (tone spot on reverse, slight creasing) but good appearance and rare. From a presentation set prepared c. 1884.
1883-94 set of 6 to 1s, opt 'SPECIMEN' type D12, fresh part to large part o.g. Odd shortish perfs but far above average for this rare set. Only 100 sets distributed. (cat £650)
1896-1906 ½d dull purple and green, complete folded right pane of 60 (6x10), lacking left margin but showing plate number ‘1‘ in top and bottom margins (the latter folded back), brilliant o.g. (stamps unmounted). A lovely item for study. The duty plate shows distorted ‘EN‘ at R1/1, and bevelled ‘P‘ at R7/2, varieties previously present on the 1883-94 issue and continuing on subsequent issues (cat £195+).
1896-1906 1d dull purple and rose, type II (oval ‘O‘), brilliant large part o.g. Extremely scarce in unused condition. Ex Sir John Marriott, with normal for comparison.
1899 3d on 5d dull purple and mauve, prepared for use but not issued, opt 'SPECIMEN', large part o.g. Trivial blemishes but fine appearance. (cat £75. See Part I footnote).
