1862 (Aug) 6d blue-green, no wmk, rough perf 14 to 16, fresh large part o.g. Typical centring but a really fine example of this scarce stamp, with lovely colour. Far above average. BPA cert (1974).
1862 (Aug) 6d blue-green, no wmk, compound perf 11-12½ x 14-16, fresh part o.g. A very fine example of this rarity, with lovely colour. Ex Toeg (CRL 12/12/90, lot 2049), with RPS cert (1972), and illustrated on p.xiv of RL Encyclopaedia vol VI.
1862 (Aug) 6d blue-green, no wmk, perf 14 to 16 (at left and foot) compound with 11 to 12½ (at top and right), fresh large part o.g. A very fine example of this rarity, with lovely colour. Ex 'Dallas', with Friedl cert (1976) for a pair, of which this is the left stamp.
1863-67 1d vermilion, wmk small star (sideways), rough perf 14 to 16, fresh large part o.g. Slightest trace of oxidation but much above average. Senf H/S on reverese. (cat £250)
1876 6d blue-green, wmk CC (reversed), perf 14, large part o.g. Insignificant trace of a toned perf mentioned for accuracy, still very fine and wonderfully fresh. Scarce thus. (cat £350).
1882 2½d red-brown, wmk CA, from R1/1 of a pane, showing duty plate severely misplaced to right, and freak misperforation, the first strike of the comb having been placed too high, large part o.g. The stamp is 26mm high instead of the normal 24½mm, and partially imperforate at the bottom of the vertical sides. Trivial soiling and creasing but a spectacular and most remarkable stamp, representing a very rare lapse from grace by De La Rue, who prided themselves on the highest standards of production and quality control. Ex Toeg (CRL 12/12/90, lot 2016)
1884-87 2½d ultramarine, block of 36 (6x6) being the bottom six rows of the right pane with full margins, showing plate number ‘2‘, with variety ‘large 2 in 2½ with slanting foot‘ at R7/1, brilliant o.g. (mounted on seven normals only, variety unmounted). A lovely positional piece. Ex Swetland, on original page.
