Superb set of ten values plus the 1d lilac Die (2) affixed to a piece of Post Office notepaper overprinted "SPECIMEN" type 9 (1d, type 12), endorsed "With Mr. Leonard Bidwells Compliments, 13 Jany 1887". Mr. Leonard Bidwell, worked for the Post Office and was a member of the 1884 stamp committee. A unique exhibition piece.

1880 British Post Offices Abroad. Very clean and fresh unpaid cover from Colombia to Paris, bearing a very fine strike of the BPO Savanilla/Barranquilla cds for JU.30.1880. Carried by Royal Mail steamer via London the cover shows a London transit cds on reverse for 28th July and a Calais transit cds for the 29th. Charged "16" decimes for delivery by the French Post Office with a "T/1-10" tax mark showing the share due to the British Post Office. An attractive cover from this very difficult overseas office.
