General Description/Contents

  • This series of colour catalogues list and prices of stamps of Commonwealth Countries from SG1 to date, to the level of detail familiar to users of the ‘Part 1’ British Commonwealth listings. 
  • The Australia volume includes the colonial issues of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia, the stamps of the Commonwealth of Australia to the end of 2008 and the issues of British Commonwealth Occupation Force (Japan), Australian Antarctic Territory, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Norfolk Island and the pre-independence issues for Nauru to (1968), New Guinea, Papua and Papua New Guinea (to 1975). 
  • Major plate flaws, watermarks varieties, postage dues, officials and booklets are all listed, including the ‘OS’ perforated stamps of New Guinea, Papua and the Commonwealth of Australia, and there is a comprehensive design index for Australia.
  • Prices for issues up to 1970 have been taken from the 2009 Commonwealth and Empire Stamp Catalogue. Later issues have been specially repriced for this volume.

Hugh Jefferies has been a keen stamp collector for over 50 years, concentrating on the stamps of Great Britain and the British Commonwealth. He has been editor of Gibbons Stamp Monthly since 1988 and Stanley Gibbons catalogue editor since 2003.
