Watershed moments
Why to buy...
Paul W. Tibbets Jr. sadly died yesterday, aged 92.
He’s requested no funeral and no tombstone. He feared a grave site would give his detractors a place to protest.
You may not have heard of Paul but you’ve heard of his mother.
She was called Enola Gay. Paul named his plane after her...
The Enola Gay dropped the first atomic bomb “Little Boy” on Hiroshima, Japan in August 1945.
Paul Tibbets later confessed that he was embarrassed at having attached his mother's name to such a fateful mission.
The Enola Gay mission was a watershed moment in world history.
There aren’t many watershed moments in a lifetime.
The Moonlandings? JFK’s assassination? 9/11?
Moments when the world stops and reflects.
Such moments attract attention and that attention makes them popular with collectors.
Collectors invest in history
Just last week a collector paid $358,500 for the flight log of the Enola Gay navigator Dutch van Kirk.
It is first hand documentation from one of the participants of the mission. All the details from take off in Tinian Island, to Hiroshima, and back.
The autographs of Enola Gay crew are some of the most sought after on earth.
You see...they weren’t celebrities, they didn’t want to be. They rarely signed autographs.
And that makes them rare today.
Following the sad death of Paul Tibbets they just got rarer...
We have just three Enola Gay items available.

One is very special...
It’s a book with the unfortunate title ‘Great Events of the 20th Century”.
It’s signed by an incredible 14 crew members and scientists associated with the mission of Enola Gay and Bock’s Car which dropped the Nagasaki bomb.
Many of the signatures have also added their rank and/or date of mission.
Paul Tibbets and Dutch Van Kirk have both signed, adding their ranks too.
The signatures are in pristine condition. It’s a superb item of the utmost rarity and priced at only £2,950 ($5,900).
We only have one. The recent passing of Paul Tibbets has probably already increased the value.
Remember the log book sold for $358,500. I believe at £2,950 ($5,900) this item is undervalued and it could be yours today.
