Bidding is available on Stanley Gibbons Public Auction.
You are able to bid by bid form, email or phone (on auction day). Phone bidding on the day is by pre arrangement, minimum of 48 hours notice before auction day. For more information, click here. Please note that a limited number of telephone lines are in operation; early application is advised. If you would like to bid on the Stanley Gibbons web site (available until midnight of the 17th June) please register by clicking here and make sure to register your payment card. This only applies to people who have not registered to Stanley Gibbons Auction before.
All bids placed on the Stanley Gibbons web site will be carried over onto the auctioneer’s log (list of all the lots in the sale which includes all web bidders’ bids on each lot and their maximums). The Auctioneer will then bid on your behalf up to your Maximum bid (that you have entered on the SG web site) live on the sale day. Please remember that just because you were winning on the web site prior to closing does not make you a winner on the day. You need to make sure your maximum is the maximum you will go up to and if somebody bids against you in the room the auctioneer will go to this amount. Results are not available until the web reflects what has happened in the auction room.

How does live bidding work?
Live bidding is like bidding in the auction room through your computer. This is through the Stanley Gibbons Web site via a computer any where in the world.
How do I Activate Live Auctions?
If you are already a registered user of Stanley Gibbons Auctions all you need to do is login to the Stanley Gibbons web site on the sale day and follow the on screen instructions.
If you are not yet a registered user of Stanley Gibbons Auctions you first need to complete our simple registration process which includes leaving credit/debit card details to secure bidding. I am a registered user of Stanley Gibbons web site but I have not bid in an auction before. All you need to do is login to the Stanley Gibbons web site and go to your account area and add credit/debit card details to your existing registration.
N.B. There is a service charge for credit cards (Visa and Mastercard @ 1.79%, Amex and American Express @ 4.25%) but no charge for debit cards.
Do I need to sign-up for each auction?
Once registered, customers will be able to bid at all future Stanley Gibbons live auctions.
How do I bid in a Live Auction?
When the auction is about to start you will see the count down for this Auction. If you are logged in you will be able to scroll through the lots and flag lots that you would like to bid on. The computer will then give you a reminder when this lots in up for bidding and inform the auctioneer that a web bidder might bid. This allows him to check the web screen for any incoming bids. If there is an audio link to the auction click the Listen Live button to hear the auctioneer.*
When the auction is about to commence the first lot will be displayed. A button will appear showing the amount currently being asked. To bid for the lot simply click the button. The screen will show if you are the current wining bidder. If you have bid and this does not show then another web bidder has got in before you. This means you need to bid again until you see you are the current winning bidder. If you are the successful bidder when the lot is sold the auction house will be in contact to arrange payment and shipping. Please note there is a 15% buyer’s premium (+VAT) on purchase's from Stanley Gibbons Public auction (or as displayed on the web site).
